Education as a factor of active aging and citizen participation
Under this motto, the VI EduMayor Workshop will be held in areas of the University of Havana.
Faced with a world that is not yet ready for aging, and in which stigmas persist that prevent people from living fully at this stage of life, education is a major factor for the achievement of active aging, while promoting inclusion and spaces for development that foster genuine citizen participation.
Professor Teresa Orosa Fraíz, president of the Chair of the Senior Adult at the University of Havana (UH), told Granma that the fact that more and more people are reaching the third age requires that education be placed not only from theory as an essential element for aging in an active and healthy way, but from the concrete demonstration and the search for strategic areas that contribute to a new image of old age, from school, social and community scenarios.
This is one of the purposes of the VI Workshop EduMayores 2017, which will be held from May 24 to 26, and promises to be a profitable academic exchange between the chairs of the older adult of all the centers of higher education of the country, its auspices and Collaborators, underlined the organizing committee.
